A CITY OF
ARCHITECTURAL
TREASURES...
it was a great experience
and I went home full of inspiration
and with the feeling that 5 days was not enough ...
I just had to come back !!!
what I didn´t know at that time was
that my son and his family
would come to live in Barcelona !!!
For me a chance to visit the city
not just like a tourist ...
more like a kind of "everydays-way" !!!
I just came home after a 2 months stay
which was my 17. time in Barcelona.
Barcelona
this wonderful city
have a speciel place in my heart
brings to me so much inspiration and pulse
situated between the mountains and the sea
a fantastic wiev over the city from Montjuic and Collserola
with a touch of the future
OLD TOWN ....
Next to the sea ....
with it´s most famous avenue, La Rambla
and narrow streets with a lot of mansions
from back in the 14.th-century
it is the oldest part of Barcelona ..
... but it was founded more than
two thousand years ago by the romans
Here are still remains from this era!!!
EIXAMPLE ...
A rationel adaption of the space
between the old city centre and the outlying villages
build after 1850 in a rigid grid system of streets
with a few exceptions like the main avenue ...
Avinguda Diagonal
In this area you find one of
the greatest collections of
Art Nouveau buildings
... known in Catalonia as Modernisme ....
this area contents af lot of buildings
by this times most famous architect ...
Antoni Gaudi
( his very unique work I will describe in another chapter ...)
With the background of
the 1992 Olympic Games
Barcelona
had a general renovation of the city
and a recuperation of its seaboard
BARCELONA
a metropolis
narrow streets and long, straight avenues
monumental buildings and open spaces
flowers, trees and palmtrees ...
sculpturs and monuments
mosaic, ceramics, wrougth iron and stained glass
details ... details ... and more details
whereever you look !!!
architecture, art and colourful people
A city and its people
with a open and hospitable character
These photos gives a little idea
of the diversity of impressions
a challenge for your senses !!!
