It´s not the crownprins of Denmarks palace ... but the entrance to my home

Wallpaintings have been cultural expressions of human creation throughout history ....
on rocks, in churches, in palaces and private homes.
From pre-history till today wallpainting were/are made to reflect history, to tell important stories, to teach us important things or they just made to enjoy the art.
Wallpaintings inriches the look of buildings.

This year a neighbour gave to us, a calender with big photos showing the decoration of
Frederik VIII`s palace at Amalienborg Copenhagen, Denmark.

The calendar for 2011 ... "Art for the royal family"
published by
Gyldendal and Permild & Rosengreen

" As a part of the modernisation process 10 danish artists were asked to to decorate the palace.
The works have been intregrated in various ways into the palaces historical settings and at the same time gives a contemporary touch, which reflects the the commitment of crownprince Frederik and his wife princess Mary to the danish cultural life. They have personally selected the artists and have followed the artistic process."
 ( quote from the calender)

The following photos show four examples of the art on the walls.

John Kørner ... Titel: "Afghanistan"

Morten Schelde ... No titel

Jesper Christiansen ... Titel: "Space"

Kaspar Bonnen ... Titel: "The room can never be closed"

So I got inspired and when we had to paint our entrance hall, I decided to make a colourful painting on two of the walls. Our entrance hall is small, narrow and have 4 doors, which don`t leave a lot of space to paint on so I had to put "my inspiration  ... from the palace ... into a very small scale" !!!
The room faces north and only has a window in the door which let a little daylight in,
so I wanted to use bright and warm colours.

Our house is an old building from 1864 and it have been used for many purposes and in many ways. ¨You can feel it has "it´s own soul" ... so I wanted to reflect this
and at the same time give it touch of its surroundings
here in Bagenkop and the nature next to the sea.

My idea was so I started to paint directly without any prior scetching, preferring the spontaneous technique. I wanted it to be  a kind of abstract landscape.
And from the beginning I had the idea that I would write some historical information on top of it all.

I have been working on it more than two weeks ... and now as always
when I am finishing a painting ....... I start to look at it to find out the smaller details I want to add.
I am still thinking of the text I want to be a part of whole painting.

In the process I decided to use the white triangels as a symbol
for the old, white fishermens houses next to the harbour ...
and also added some human silhouette  !!!

So when have made the last details I will put some more photos on my blog ...
